In 2019 Gibraltar hosted the Island Games for the second time in its history. The biennial competition started in 1985 and was known as the Inter-Island Games. Over twenty island nations compete from around the globe from Scandanavia to the Mediterranean, the UK to the Caribean. 
 
To commemorate the 2019 Games, a special set of commemorative coins were released in Gibraltar from 1p-£2 depicting some of the sports which feature at the Island Games. 
 
This is the 50p coin which depicts 'Sailing.'
