2016-2020 Beatrix Potter 50p coins.

These coins have been popular amongst long-standing collectors and budding coin enthusiasts alike and of course make an excellent gift for all ages.

Back in 2016 when the first designs were announced, which included the now famous 2016 Jemima Puddle-Duck coin, a hype was emulated that had not been seen since the Olympic 50p coins were released back in 2011. For Puddle-Duck, due to its low mintage figures, which at the time placed it second behind only the 2009 Kew Gardens in respect of rare commemorative coins in circulation, only added to the intrigue surrounding these coins and what would happen next.

Given the array of characters within the original stories, coin collectors eagerly awaited the updates from the Royal Mint as to the next tranche of coins they could add to this already desirable collection.

Four more designs were released into circulation in both 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Whilst many were still on the hunt for a now exceedingly elusive Puddle-Duck coin, the news broke that mintage records had been broken for a second time by the Beatrix Potter coins. No less than three out of the four designs from the 2018 compilation were announced to have mintage figures of less than 2 million each.  The 2018 Peter Rabbit, Flopsy Bunny and Mrs Tittlemouse are now second, third and fourth respectively, behind 2009 Kew Gardens.

However, the Royal Mint were not finished and added the final gloss by announcing special one-of Peter Rabbit designs in 2019 and 2020 which would not be released into general circulation.

Not only is the Beatrix Potter set highly collectible and presentable it is seen by many an investment due to the rarity of several of the coins within the collection.
