Commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the birth of Christopher Ironside 1913. Ironside was the the designer of the first decimal coins, including the iconic Britannia 50p first minted in 1969. The Royal Arms featured on this coin was the second choice design at the time and even featured on some trial coins that year.
