Commemorating the UK Presidency of the EEC during 1992 and the compeltion of the European Single Market in 1993.

 

The rarest 50p coin to ever enter circulation in the UK with only 109,000 coins circulated it was withdrawn in 1997, with the introduction of the new 50p coin. It is also the first dual-dated british coin.

Obverse: Raphael Maklouf Portrait 

Reverse: depicting the meeting of Council members with the UK at the head. On the table, twelve stars, linked by a network of lines to each other representing the common market (designed by Mary Milner Dickens).
